two things to check .make sure your sender address is correct this is very important ie harry@whatever.com.au this would work hary@whatever.com this wouldn't work
and dont turn on authentication protocol

Did the firmware update complete itself fully to the end of the install ?

If the firmware update was in error, you could try installing the "relevant" firmware one at a time on the USB stick.
      Wait for it to complete.....

How are you setting up the Network settings ?
At the MFD panel or via WebSettings ?

I assume you've done an MDF - Laptop direct test ?
Do the usual <cmd.exe /k ipconfig /all> on the PC and see if the settings match the MFD.
Take the MFD off fixed IP and see if you get the network DHCP server response update to the MFD.

Apart from the username and passwords being changed,
I assume it is a DNS server problem.

Where are you trying to send the email. Do you have a dummy or test email address you can use to test with ?
I send MFD email to my own private email then read it back from my IPhone to make sure it worked.

What have you set under the SMTP settings? Are you trying to send through an Exchage server or an SMTP server? I have seen this error if you have the wrong port setup in the smtp settings, not all smtp servers use the common port 25. Does the outgoing mail server require a secure connection? The 3101 error, which is the outgoing mail server is not responding, indicates to me that the server is ignoring the request to send an email either because the username/password you have setup for SMTP is incorrect or does not have the correct privilages to send. Also, what operating system does the customer use? From Windows server 2012 on, using Exchange Server, the specific IP address/Device Name has to be enabled in Exchage to send via SMTP otherwise it is rejected. Hope this helps a little.

              Thanks for your help guys.

It is a smtp server thru gmail (my personal email just to test) I have tried many ports and it says connection ok but nothing sends and i get that error code 3101... Yeah I'm thinking dns.
And I have tried laptop direct connect and same thing happened.

Gmail? Uggh! Had a customer a couple of years ago have this problem with Gmail. We eventually wound up bouncing the out going mail through the customers ISP SMTP server to Gmail. Gmail uses old standards that are incomptiable with newer MFP's. Try using the smtp server from their ISP.

It has nothing to do with DNS. Using the IP address of the mail server would negate the use of DNS. These machines don't support SSL/TLS encryption.
You can use aspmx.l.google.com to scan to a gmail hosted domain without authentication. You would need to set up stunnel or something else to do the encryption for you if going out of your domain. I have an account hosted through Rackspace for use with older MFP's without encryption.
                    Hope that helps !

In gmail accounts there is a security option you may need to activate -allow less secure apps to access your account- https://support.google.com/accounts/.../6010255?hl=en

If google is soooo concerned about protecting personal privacy why does Microsoft IExplorer block the following google sites from a new O/S software install.
Which reminds me further I must update the below service block.

Something smells fishy..., smells like robbing Peter to pay Paul. Is anyone of the big web players any better than the other ?
The best information protection system in the world is two computer systems or swap out HardDrives. One computer for the internet an one for home/office computing. The one for home/office needs the NIC /WiFi adapter removed or disabled to prevent temptation to connect it to the internet. Use the Home/office computer with and SDcard/Lock function to transfer information from Peer-to-Peer. Format the SD/Card each time for sensitive data. With the internet computer :use on line anonymity and regularly click random websites which don't fit your normal user browser profile habits. Random web-clicks shakes the bit's off search engine profiling software. There is a million an one ways to take back you own personal privacy from data miners, including getting rid of electronic monthly accounts online. Remember they are not people but programmed machines. Go back to paper accounts for sensitive data like phone bills where all your friends and customers can be profiled. And teach your kids it's ok to be conscious computer privacy advocates.
