    New bizhub 3320

My company just purchased a bizhub3320 and I set it up last night. I cannot get the thing to recognize paper is in tray 1, I'm going a little crazy here. I setup the paper tray to letter, set the size in settings the same. Paper is HP at 75g which appears to be in the acceptable range. Paper feeds just fine from the MP but not from the tray at all. I've tried changing the paper type to each one listed. I've tried taking the bulk of the paper out of the tray, doesn't make a difference. I never thought I would be asking such a simple question but how do I load paper into this thing?

    Thank you for your time.

Did you follow the setup procedure? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I installed the software and plugged in the printer as it said to do. The documentation is a little vague after that. Any help will be appreciated.

Lexmark screen and panel layout is exactly like this machine.
I think you should go into web admin and click on settings and paper. Check and see the paper trays are listed and usually the paper types are set to custom, change it to plain.

Web admin= type the ip address of the machine into your broswer and enter. the control panel menus will then be available on your computer screen and its easier to navigate and make changes and to see the machine setups.

This model sucks. It's op panel is limited and confusing and the web interface is not re-designed to suit a Konica tech. It's Lexmark and it blows.

            Re: New bizhub 3320

Thank you for the info. This stuff is confusing to me but I'm working thru it. I'm connected using a usb, not sure how to use the web to see the printer options.

In devices and printers I open the printer and it gives me a window with a bunch of options. When I go to Customize your printer and click on Konica minolta 402-_3320 and click on device settings the only paper size it shows is Tray1_11x17(A3)_ model:letter It does this for tray 1-4. When I go to Adjust print options the only options are for 11x17 no envelope no normal size paper etc.

However when I got to the same area and click on Konica minolta 402-_3320 *PS *PCL6 *XPS I have more options and I set everything up for letter size and to only print on one side of the page and tray 1..and all that's great. BUT I STILL CANNOT PRINT. Sorry for yelling...but none of these options in the setup seem to make a difference to the printer being able to pull paper out of the tray. I would be happy if the thing was loading paper and jamming right now but its not even doing that.

I'm sure I am missing something. All the settings are wonderful and all but if the thing cannot feed paper out of the paper tray its nothing more than a brick to me. Also if I stick a document in the scan tray and scan...IT STILL DOESN'T PRINT...

Tray 1 Empty!.. What setting do I need to change so the thing will load paper and print?

Remove tray1 and look inside the compartment where the tray pushes into. see if there is any tape, usually blue in there. pull it out.

Is there any red lights blinking on the screen when you power up the machine ?.
. You said tray1 is set to letter but did not say it the type is set for plain.
In technical terms, the way these machine detects the paper is there is a flag [ piece of plastic] that detects the paper when the tray is pushed in. Most machines has either a motor or some device that lifts the plate that the paper sits on and the flag detects the paper. With lexmark, there is nothing in the tray to lift, its the opposite. when the tray is pushed it it pushes down the paper detect actuator an the paper pickup roller, hence the reason i asked you to look for the tape.
I had this problem and it was just that the tape had been holding the pickup assy and not releasing.

go to the machine setup menu and check the paper settings there, make sure tray1 is set to letter and the paper type is plain. then remove paper from all the other trays except tray1. do a copy from the adf and on the screen choose the source and destination. It should work. If not, you probably have a broken paper detect actuator. next step, if you buy a machine you can call lexmark for support also.

I do not think the motor is turning in the feed tray. No tape is on it everything moves freely.

Something else thats odd and I do not understand is this photo. Why do I only have options for 11x17? Sorry if the img is gigantic.

Take out the paper from tray1 and switch it the other way around. to do this of course you have to move the paper guide in the tray. make sure the length guide and the width guides are fitting properly. then close tray and go back to the paper menu and see if the paper size changes. the machine automatically detects the paper size.

see page 107 of the user manual for the paper settings and setup

We have had this issue with a few of our 3320's straight out of the box. Remove tray one, press the rounded lever on the left backward and this will drop the feed rollers. Clean these rollers with alcohol or 409.
If its still not recognizing paper make sure its sitting on a flat surface (not like a dented filing cabinet)
