I have-no paper in cassette 1 message error. I have paper in the tray empty lever is in place but I can't test sensor in service mode. I manually lift the empty lever and there is no change. The size indicators work because when I change the dial on the tray the paper size changes. I know tray 1 doesn't have the lift motor like the rest of the optional trays. Ideas Appreciated thx

I just checked one here in our shop, the tray empty sensor only changed state when pushing the bottom two white buttons first. (indicating the drawer is in & on letter size)
It looks like the white lever (paper present) located on the duplex guide, pushes another lever up inside to change state on the sensor. That's as far as I can help you without disassembly.
