    KM-6030 Blank prints and copies

Has anyone seen blank prints on the 6030/8030's. I don't remember seeing this before. Really light copies and the like but never blank. The tech says no toner on drum with sky shot but I am not sure if he stopped it correctly. Just seeing if anyone has come across this.

    thanks

There are several charge related possibilities:

Light copies, intermittently. The leading edge of the paper is black. Worn transfer belt idler roller shaft. Replace the idler roller (302FB16450) and bearings (G3001360). When rebuilding, also examine other bearings (63520170, 27505290) and ground contact (302FB16111).

Light copies, intermittently. The leading edge of the paper is black. Light areas crossfeed. The developing bias terminal is worn down, making poor contact. Replace the developing bias contact (302FB08481). Do not lubricate. Leave contact dry.

Light copies, intermittently. Mylar insulating surface is worn through on the rear transfer guide (971K prints). Replace rear transfer guide (302FB94170).

More recently I had light copies caused by a developing unit. It was a very low volume machine, and initially there was a question whether the previous toner was OEM or not. Vacuuming out the developing unit and refilling it with OEM made no difference.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks for the reply Blackcat. The problem is these are not light prints, they are blank. I had the tech replace the laser this morning with no change. There is no latent image on the drum. I would swear the laser was being blocked but he cant find any thing.

Have you done anything with the Dev unit? Clean a partial part of the mag roller and run a few copies to see if your dev unit is getting drive.

I had one today in a clothes store and some sewing pins had fallen into the machine stopping the drum from turning.

try swapping the k drum with mgta or other to see if the fault moves.

Alternatively, if the customer is using an after market toner rather than an oem, it may have clogged the sensor in the dev unit which will stop the toner motor from adding toner as it thinks there's too much in there already.

Remove the relevant dev unit, turn upside down and take off the bottom plate via the 3 clips, (side cover clips off easily), clean sensor and remove any solid toner, make sure the augers are turning, refit and test.

First thing that comes to my mind, is a broken / loose wire on Transfer Belt Ass'y.. Used to have these models in several school systems, and teachers would always keep breaking the wires while trying to find paper jams.. They would lift the transfer belt ass'y upward, which would over-extend the wire and pull the wire out of its connector.. Looking at the transfer belt ass'y, it should be on the read side of ass'y.. It is a white wire with a 90 degree connector.. (the wire is attached to the Transfer High Voltage PWB that sits under the transfer Belt Ass'y)

            Hope this helps..
            Good Luck,
