Replace Developer Unit DV-865C on a Taskalfa 250ci

    Hi there,

can you tell me if it is possible for a complete layman to replace a defective cyan developer unit on a Taskalfa 250ci? Are there any descriptions or manuals out there on the Internet that might help me?

Thank you very much in advance!

if you are a complete layman on these machines i would suggest you get a tech who knows the machines.
if it was just a slide out the old one and slide in the new one it wouldnt be a problem but it isnt that easy and one mistake can cost a lot of money repair wise

Well, I had a tech here to check what was wrong with my machine. He got the developer unit out while I was standing next to him. It took him like 5 minutes, some screws and the thing was out. Did not seem too difficult. However, I would like to have some sort of manual, if there was any.
The tech wants 200 euros for the exchange - and you know, I bought the Taskalfa 250ci second-hand for 250 euros last year. So a new developer unit (250 euros) plus 200 euros for the tech just doesn't make sense. And I cannot really afford it.

It is just a slide out the old one and the new one in.

You could just google it, The TA250ci service manual is out there.

If you are going to do it just make sure the machine is definetley unplugged and you give the new cyan dev unit a shake before you put it in the mahine. If you are confident with a screwdriver you should manage. I would advise you get a tech also, but if its going to cost more than the machine I understand you wanting to give it a go.

        Good Luck

It isn't just a case of swapping them. When part is replaced, calibrations, registration, half tone adjustment and uneven density all have to be performed to ensure it works properly.

            Dear all,
I'll try it on my own... If I break it, it is my own fault. But as I only paid like 250 bucks for the machine it is not that bad.

According to the service manual, I have to remove the fuser unit and the transfer belt unit (p. 310 of the manual). However, when the tech was here and removed the cyan developer unit he did not remove any of these two parts. I know that because he did not remove anything from the left side - he only worked from the front of the TA250ci.

Is it really necessary to remove all those parts or can I replace the cyan developer unit without that?

            Thank you

to remove dev units no you do not, but if you need to remove drum units then yes you have to pull the transfer belt away from drums which means you have to pull the fuser. So no you do not have to but if you do it's only 2 screws for fuser and one connector from the belt. You don't even have to pull the belt all the way out...just out enough to raise off of drums so you do not damage them.

Like Kidaver said, it's not necessary to pull the transfer belt and fuser if you are only going for developing unit(s). If you need to get the drums, then yes, those items need to come out.

The time consuming part is the color calibration. The simulations you need to do will be listed (in 4 languages) on an instruction sheet in the box.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

There is a service manual on this page as PDF format, hope it helps.
