[Error Code] MFP CS-4050 error 3101 scanner set up

Ok, so I spent all day yesterday moving my works emails to google apps from another hosting site. I was dreading to have to set up the scanner again especially since I didn't set it up the first time and the one who did no longer works here. Our MFP CS-4050 isn't scanning anymore. Of course I know it's because I needed to move the SMTP, which I thought I did using the gmail settings they said, but I'm still getting a 3101 error. I need help trying to figure this out because we really need our scanner to work to emails. When I test the settings through the IP command center it says OK.

Did you include the "From Address"?

These are the only options I've been given unless there is something I'm missing.

Did you try to read that image? Nobody can read that.

3101 can mean invalid port number or invalid sender's address (local IT fat-fingered "smtp@domain..com")

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Sorry the thing only made it that size if I could make it bigger I would.

When I click the test button to try it out it says OK. It only doesn't work when I physically try to scan something.

So how do I fix this?

            1) enter the correct port number.
            2) enter a valid senders email address (in this case only one period between domain and com)

I have had the same problem with the 4050. I can use the gmail smtp and it will test ok. But never gotten it to send and email. I was told by Kyocera Tech support that the older Kyocera machines do not support the correct encryption service that gmail uses (TLS or SSL I don't remember which). Supposedly you can use the following
              aspmx.l.google.com
which doesn't have to be authenticated and it will work but you can only send to a gmail address. NOT yahoo, hotmail, Aol.. etc. I have not gotten that to work either but I had an IT guy get it to work with the TaskAlfa 420i. He was supposed to send me the instructions because I was missing a setting. ( Isn't that usually the case?) Try using another smtp server and go ahead and enter your gmail address as the sender and it should work. It has for me. The newer machines from the 3500i forward will work with a gmail SMTP just fine.

Your right just using the aspmx.l.google.com doesnt work. Why do you mean using another smtp server?

I use a smtp supplied by the local internet provider. For businesses they have one with an open port that uses port 25 and does not need authentication.

There is only two ways to solve this, 1.confirm with the IT if there is smtp server name IP change then update it. This only applies if everybody can't scan
                    2. If other users can scan but only one or two users can't scan then ask if they changed pc password or username then update. Go to address book choose the user and ask her/him to put pc username and password.

FREDR, I am thinking TIME may be a third way to solve this because the original post is almost four years old!
