    Fs-1028

Has anyone seen the adf clutch just go out? Had a call today for jamming ... It was a fragment of paper stuck in the feeder. I replaced the rollers as they were worn. Tested just fine. Power cycled and the clutch just clicks now? Any thoughts are appreciated

You don't have the spring in the right spot. The ends of the spring should go on each side of the plastic rib.
    Hope that helps !

I will look into that next time I visit the account... Even if I pull the clutch off it just clicks. Is that normal. I really don't work on these series of machines. Thanks

I believe it's trying to lift the feed unit to the home position.
        Hope that helps !

Did you clean the optics? If you did, take the platen glass back off and push the connector on properly. If you did not take the platen off, then it is the connector on the adf side that needs pushed in better.

Does the paper advance at all? If it goes to the timing rollers in the turn area but won't go beyond them then check the one way bearing drive gear located on the rear side at the bottom. Burnish the shaft and clean and re-oil or replace it.

Replace the wiring harness in the adf that goes from the main unit to the adf PWB. When you replace it do not re-install the harness hold down and snip the ty-rap. The problem is the wire harness hold-down and ty-rap restricts the harness movement when the ADF is raised and lowered causing a break in one of the wires at the connection to the main frame. It is random at which wire breaks but we had this exact same problem on a machine which we had to replace under our warranty policy only to discover by accident the harness problem after it was back in the shop. Since we have instituted removing the hold down and snipping the ty-rap on all new units and all field units we have eliminated the problem on over 250 units. Hope this helps.

It was the connector just loose enough on the scanner side... Thank you everyone for the suggestions!
