    Meter Reading sent via email

I have searched Kyocera to find instructions for having the equipment in the field email me the meter readings each month and for the life of me I cannot find it. Can someone point in the right direction so I can start this process? We talked about it in class (Atlanta) but my old brain can't retain info that long.

In the web page just below the SMTP seetings, is email recipient 1-3. You can do it there or by going to the ip address xxx.xxx.x.xxx/svcmntrptThe later will allow you to use a different SMTP server in case they have one that will only send in their domain.
    Hope that helps !

The first step is to setup the SMTP server. If the customer has one their IT people should be able to give you a username and password as well as the hostname/IP address that will allow outgoing emails. If they do not have a SMTP server or the IT dept. won't give you a username/password to use [some companies/govt. agencies don't allow scan to email] you could with IT's permission enter your company's SMTP server info. We have established a third party SMTP server just for cases where there is no customer server available to get the meter readings. The key to this is after setting up your company's SMTP server info on the machine, to restrict it's domains to your company domain where you will receive the meter readings. Otherwise the customer would be able to use it to scan to email to go anywhere which you do not want as it could reach the limit of number of outgoing emails allowed by your SMTP server. Once the SMTP server is setup, enter the email account to receive the info in user 1 and select meter report and frequency of meter report and you should have it.

Re: Meter Reading sent via email

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but, does anyone have any more information on this? I have a taskafla 306ci, that is set to scan to email using a customers internal mail server but I want to be able to input our own mail server details so that I can have meter readings emailed to me every month.

I cannot for the life of me find the settings! Can anyone assist?

You do not have to change the SMTP server settings, just go to the Maintenance/Notification tab under advanced and enter the Information, like the email account you want the readings sent to the interval for the report and you are pretty much done. Changing the smtp info to your server will pretty much kill the scan to email setup they have already established.

              See above quote ^^

The nice thing about this is you can also have it send you maint. reports however often you want, and you can tell it to email you if the machine produces a "Cxxxx" code that way you can look it up before they even call about it.

You can set it up 2 different ways. One is under the SMTP settings. You will see options for email 1,2 and 3. The other is found under maintenance. I found a free smtp servers that allows up 1000 email a month and another up to 6000 email. You can add the name of the client in the report setting so you know who it's coming from otherwise it will just have a generic message ...reports from kyocera 420i ( or something like that. I have almost all my kyocera (and other models) email a meter report
