Kyocera TA 5501 fuser toner spots

I am having excess toner spoting issues with this fuser. This is an updated fuser with less than 200k on it and the firmware is up to date and OEM toner. I go in to the client, clean the fuser and a few days later the spots are back. Any suggestions?

Somebody running heavier weight paper and not telling the machine of the type change. The key op may not even be aware that someone else is trying this

No, they just run standard 20 lbs Hammermill paper through it. They have envelopes in the bypass and the bypass is set to envelope mode. I'm thinking of doing a temperature change of 10 degrees in ether direction and see if that makes a difference.

That fuser looks a little beat up, it's probably just cooked. How old is it (time vs. pages)? Either way it's probably under warranty so replace the assembly and you will most likely be done with the call.

You should replace the fuser, if for nothing else to see if the problem continues. Take advantage of great warranty program

I will have it replaced under warranty. to answer your question supertech, it's been about six months since the fuser was replaced with less than 200k on it, the box, itself, only has a little over 400k total. It must cost Kyocera a small fortune to replace fusers at such a premature failure rate.... these fusers are technically supposed to last 600k; bad design? Maybe, they should have added a cleaning roller something. It's funny but I don't recall having this much issue with the 5500 series fusers they pretty much, in my experience, last pm to pm.

I lowered the fusing temp. by 10 degrees to 175, I have not heard back from the customer since doing so.

Having same problems with fusers,im installing cassette heaters as damp paper causing quicker wear and tear, even though a great warranty and factory have changed coating on heat roller warranty isnt going to last forever.firmware version 5 + making fusers last longer as per tech bulletin

Let me know how those cassette heaters work for you. So far reducing the heat has seemed to work for me at this point.

A couple of side benefits to reducing the fuser temperature is that:

                    1) the plastic frames will not warp as badly.
                    2) it's more likely to make yield.
                    3) you'll have less paper curl, especially duplex.

The only think to watch for is that you have adequate fusing. It's more important than ever that adventurous users that bring out the cardstock select the proper media type every time. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Fusing issues like this have been a lot more common on the 6550ci/7550ci/6551ci/7551ci machines. Turning Silent Mode ON has cured every machine we have seen. Drawback is 1st copy takes a lot longer to come out. People don't like that.
