    [Jamming] 0533 Out of Tray 3 only (4551ci w/ PF-740)

Fighting a battle here with a TA-4551ci with a PF-740. We are getting a Jam 0533. It only jams when using tray 3, tray 4 works just fine. Here's the weird part. We swapped to a known working PF-740 and get the same jam. We replaced the conveying unit and same thing. All electrical connections check out. Any advice is appreciated!

    Have you tried firmware re-load?

I would check for a pinched or uninsulated wire since control and voltage for PFFS1 is on the PF main PWB. And since you swapped the whole feeder (and therefore the PWB), obviously you shouldn't be looking at an issue with the PWB, sensor, clutch, etc. Also check your connector at the engine PWB YC19.

edit: I see you said that you checked connections but something doesn't add up. Double check!

Have you taken the paper feed section out and checked it? Am sure you have. It's the new style right? You might wanna try to adjust the retard pulley position. We've had a few that we've had to change the complete feed section out. Oh, and I know this is absurd so forgive me for asking such a simple thing. You did check the stack in the deck to make sure all paper was lined up and not folded up edges? What's the meter reading?

Yes traced all connections from YC19 and resistance was good through all. Also tested for short to ground. The paper stops at the feed assembly right before reaching the mid roller. Right at sensor PFPCS1. Hoping to have our regional Kyocera guru out next week to check it out.

Again, we can swap the PF-740 to another machine and it works fine, so we have eliminated the PF as a culprit.

Press on the lower door ... the one between the feed cabinet and the transfer section ... during feeds and see if it runs ok. If so the door may be slightly warped outward. I've replaced a couple with the same symptom. Tension from feed section on tray three can overcome the pull from the transport section between the cabinet and transfer section. From tray 4 the paper has completely left the feed unit and is in the horizontal transport unit which has less tension when the next section takes over transport.

You're very welcome. The first time I saw it was on a brand new just out of the box machine.
