    Kyocera Ecosys M6535- No paper in tray

    Copier isn't recognizing that there's paper loaded in the tray. Paper sensor arm looks bent, possibly broke. Customer is 2 hours outside of area and billable. Has anyone torn into the sensor assembly for these? Other than an exploded parts diagram, have found very little as far as replacement procedure. Sensor assembly looks to sit in bottom frame of the machine but if anyone can shed some light on this, I'd much appreciate it.

      I've never had it out, but you'll get the best view of it with the consumables removed, and the MFP laying on it's back. There's a metal crosspiece that links together the two tray rails (4 or 6 screws to remove), then there it is. =^..^=
      If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          Most likely cause is the customer has knocked the rotational spring on the actuator off and it is not returning it to the proper position. Have seen this before.
