[CQ] kyocera M6026cdn faint copies after firmware.

    Morning all,

Just looking for some advice if anyone can help, we have a utax p-c2660 mfp (M6026cdn) which had the colour registration problem that required the firmware reset procedure and set up, the firmware sorted the registration problem fine, but straight away after doing it, the prints are light and washed out, and nothing i do changes it, dev/drum refreshes, calibrations etc, all 4 colurs are pale, as if it is in eco mode (which it isn`t). I had to do the same procedure on a identical model and it was fine, im really scratching my head on this one. Besides the registration problem, the printer was fine before the firmware, nice and dark, first copy after firmware, pale. The machine has had a new belt, k dev and is running OEM toner.

    Any help would be appreciated.

see if you can air blast the ID sensors that are at the far side of where the transfer belt seats, and are covered by a sliding(left-right) mechanized brush/cover. There's no handy way to actually open that slider that I'm aware, not that Ive really tried either.
after that, run calibration from the menu and see what happens?

with faint printing, always check the secondary transfer roller too just to make sure it's not shorting out or seated stupidly.

Since you had good prints prior to the firmware reset, I would reload the firmware. I would also not use the turbo version, if you now have a corrupt file in the firmware, turbo package will not overwrite it. While it may take a little longer we never use the turbo packages just in case there is a corrupt file that needs to be overwritten.

Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated. I will check the seating of the transfer roller, but it litterally went from good to bad with the firmware, I hadn`t opened the machine or anything like that, so I cant imagine the roller is out of position.

I did reinstall the firmware to no avail, but that was just the system firmware, I will go back and start from the reset firmware, Im not quite sure what you mean by turbo package, do you mean do each file individually rather than all at 1 time?

        Thanks.

the "turbo" pack is offered alongside the non-turbo firmware packages. The firmware consists of several files which control all the separate parts of the machine. the only difference between the versions is a file that is in the turbo pack which contains a list of files that can be skipped if they are the same version as what's already installed on the machine. some sections don't need get updated if nothing about it changed. This would mean that if there was a corrupted file on the machine and it happens to get skipped, you still have the corrupted file.

We always try to use the non-turbo version so that we know all the files will be overwritten regardless of their individual version.

I recommend trying to clean the ID sensors because they are used to calibrate the density(and maybe registration too, i'm not so sure about that, though) . if the machine had the calibration values blown out from using the special firmware, then perhaps it's failing to properly set itself back up using the sensors? That's my current theory, I'd love to know if it actually works.

Did you try to run 425 input target values before running the 410?

              Quick reply to your messages.

The customer actually cancelled the call so I never got to the bottom of this, I will try what you all suggested if it returns, but fingers crossed its fine now.

copiers and printers, don`t you just love `em. ;-)
