    KM-1820 Scanner count

    Hello Poeple,

We have a problem. We were using a new 1820 to troubleshoot another one, and now my copy count is 42 but my scanner count is 1098.

I spoke w/Kyo rep and he has no clue where the scanner stores the counter. We replaced the eprom on the engine pwb the copy count changes but not the scan count.

The only thing I can think of is it's stored in the lazer unit, that is the only common denominator.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks guys

why are you trying to reset it?

there is sim to reset lifetime once, but if any count goes over 1000 (which your scanner has), it cannot be reset.

      LNorris,

This a BRAND NEW MFP The scanner does not have 1098 scans on it.
I wanted to know if there is an EPROM in the lazer unit that keeps the scan count.

        This is a logical conclusion.

I'm just wondering why it matters that your new machine has 1000 scans? Who cares? Is this a case of an anal saleman wanting the machine to look fresh out of the box? I just don't see the point of pursuing this. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          BC4866,

This is a fresh machine right out of the box!!!!!!!!!

My regional rep has no idea what the problem is, so I thought I would POST IT HERE.

If you guys have a problem w/this I understand (ethics) But my Kyocera dsm has no
          problem sending it H.Q.

Ethics problem aside: Why does it matter?

Is your salesman unable to sell a machine with 1000 scans? Maybe it had some small problem off the production line that required service. I just don't see why you've got your shorts in a knot over 1000 scans. I would have a problem if the machine didn't work, but apparently it does. Please explain. =^..^=
