Greetings fellow techs... I went to sanitize the machine, and once I found the Sanitization touch key under System Menu Network, the key is grayed out, which tells me I can't sanitize the machine. Is there a way to do this? Is there a workaround? Do I need a magic wand? Any info would certainly knock this monkey off my shoulder.

I think that if you have an HDD and Activate the Data Security kit, that the default System Initialization is no longer available. It is implied that 'Sanization' is a part of that, but may be a separate button which gets greyed out as well I just don't recall.
You should be able to execute a Sanitization from the Data Sec menu though, forcing that the sanitization is done under Data Sec rules with more robust features.
It is not made clear in the documentation aside from this little note in the Data Security kit OG:
installation.(of the DSK)
We recently examined a case where the button was greyed out (on an MFP) and found the above to be true when turning on the DSK.
The '4' series has the 'old' method DSK as built-in, with a higher level DSK (gubmint spec) as an option so there should be even more confusion with it's menu's"Being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn" - Benjamin Franklin
