    Kyocera FS-C8020MFP DP duplex jams

Hi all, I have an issue with a FSC8020MFP the DP will jam every time on 2nd side as it pulls the original in to scan the 2nd side, it seems the roller doesnt drive.

Didnt have long to investigate but couldn't see any obstructions etc.

    Anyone come across this fault?

You probably have a flipped or damaged mylar. I haven't had luck forcing a cardstock through but I have fixed it by taking apart the adf.
It's not terribly hard. Front, rear covers off, few screws, unplug and free up wires. The adf detaches from the frame so be careful the frame will want to fly up.

When returning the adf to the adf frame do not tighten screws unless it's seated properly. There is a gate on the bottom of the adf that you'll need to position just so. You kind of have to work blind. You basically want to get the gate open so it goes under the framework instead of on top.

We have had this problem on a number of 6525's that have the same adf. The typical problem is the original hangs on the swing gate fingers [second set from the back of the adf] when being fed back to the scan position. Getting to these guides is not easy and we mostly replace the adf with a unit from a known working unit. We had one tech that actually cut off the guide fingers to resolve the problem, which is not a recommended action. Since the swing guide is gravity actuated, we suspect that it binds up due to contamination on the shaft, Why it is always the second swing guide from our observations is still a mystery. We even rebuilt one of these with this problem in the shop and ran thousands of pages through the adf using sim 203, only to have it fail again in actual use. It is a frustrating problem and if anyone has a resolution we would be more than happy to hear about it as we have a number of these adf's sitting useless in our inventory.
