Hello, I have very light, almost no black in copies and prints. I made a copy in single color mode using magenta and it is dark, so the black drum - which is fairly new - is not getting toner I assume. Is this a black toner motor issue? Or if anyone can direct me thanks in advance. It happened rather suddenly according to the customer - maybe a on a board fuse that I see in another post that they can fail as times?

you don't give us much info to work with!
have you cleaned the ROS/LSU? Transfer roller? -
Re: TASKalpha 300ci light copies and prints in black only, color ok
I think that I would do these things:
Run 11% fill test pattern to see samples
General cleaning.
Run developer stir, then see if it improves.
If some improvement run developer stir again (not over 3 times).
Check counts on consumables.
if still not adequately improved order black developing unit.
If significant improvement perform color calibration.

1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Here's a possibility ... The developer drive coupler has a pin through a shaft and held in place by a plastic ring. That plastic ring can vibrate loose causing the pin to fall out and the machine to lose black developer drive. I think the vibration comes from the newer firmware and dev units that vibrate at the end of copy runs to keep the machines running cleaner. Never saw the issue until after the change and never had it happen to any color but black.Comment

Like that? Even if you know the back of this machine intimately it will still take you at least two hours. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:

That would be the one. Has to be done through the back so everything has to come off. We started to use a little silicon sealer on that plastic ring to keep it from coming back off.Comment

I cut a strip of paper 4mm wide, folded it over to two thicknesses, then slipped it between the ring and the coupler. Then trimmed off the excess. It doesn't take much to snug it up. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:

Re: TASKalpha 300ci light copies and prints in black only, color ok
Many thanks. I was at the account yeterday for another reason and decided to shake the toner and reinsert and that took care of almost the whole problem - but the blacks are not real dark or solid still. (Yes I should have done this before - guess the toner was caked-up inside - can this happen?) I just picked up this machine so I do not have the history of parts replacement. Question: Does this model have a place in the service menu where I can see the developer life?Comment

Re: TASKalpha 300ci light copies and prints in black only, color ok
There is some springs coming out of the transfer HVT that contact the belt, if there's no contact on the black one (there's one for each colour) your blacks will be light. Just a thoughtComment

happens WAY more than you would expect... folks order toner shove it in a hot closet forget about it order more and never use the older toner first... and they ALWAYS forget to shake the bottle before inserting it. One company i used to work for put big labels on the tube to remind the user to shake before inserting.Comment

Yes. If you open the shutter and turn the toner cartridge drive coupler you should see toner trickling from the spout. On a couple of occasions I've taken the toner cartridge out behind the dumpster and beat the hell out of it to break up the impaction. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
