[Misc] Kyocera X002 series "Not recognizing new toner" (OEM)

Hey guys! Only been a tech for about three months and am picking it up but I still have a lot to learn. This is my first post but not my first time on the site. The forum has already been a very useful tool. Thanks a lot!

Anyways, Over the past week me and my awesome co worker/trainer have had a few calls for 5002i and 5052ci (so far) machines having a "Not recognizing new toner" message when customers put in new toner and not going away whether it's a new or used toner cartridge. The machines just kept looping through the add new toner instructions on the display. After putzing around with the first machine for a solid 30 minutes, we realized the side door was open slightly. After opening and properly closing the door the code went away and everything was working as it should. From what I can understand, the door being open prevented the startup sequence from recognizing any installed toner cartridges. Seems like it may be a relatively common fluke across the series. Hopefully this can save someone time and sanity should you encounter it!

      Great catch!

I found something similar on a 5501i a few days ago. The enduser had changed a waste bottle, but it wouldn't recognize the new one. In the process of changing it they had partially popped open the right door. When I re-booted the machine it went right into a "Door Open" indication.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thank you for the heads up and - Welcome to the forum!

I have changed a couple of Waste toner assemblies on these and had the fun task of replacing a toner supply assembly too. I hope to never have to do that again!
Over all I like this model and they seem to run quite clean.
Best wishes and looking forward to your posts.
