    Kyocera 420i

I have a customer with a Kyocera 420i. Their corporate office made some changes and wants all the individual branch offices to scan to email.. But they can ONLY use Office365 smtp server which uses TLS encryption and of course this machine doesn't support TLS. So I offered setting up Scan to PC on each PC. But as soon as I told their IT that the folder had to be shared they said that was not an option. Is there another way I can get the scan function set up for the client or are they out of luck? I could sell them another machine but the branch manager doesn't want to purchase a newer machine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Do they have a server? Surely he could share a folder on a server since that's the point of a server. Or you could install a NAS device that acts like a file server.

Well pin point scan is not a option for that model, papercut and twain are the only option! That model is on the parts discontinuation list now. Time for a upgrade!! Good luck

scan via ftp using filezilla server
or use a gmail account to upload email
not sure if the scan to file utility still works
        or time to upgrade equipment

One other option Office 365 supports a mail relay but there IT must set it up.

What bsm2 said. Have IT provide an ftp server setup or tell them it's time to upgrade. Filezilla works great for setting up ftp server on each PC. If they have a server, ftp services can be turned on and set for each user to have their on ftp root folder.

We maintain a SMTP server [with a third party service] just for situations like this. We enter our SMTP info into the machine and even create an email account for the unit so it shows that the email is coming from xyzcompany.com. Some of our clients have setup a tempscan folder on a server that the unit can scan to via SMB using a username and password that IT controls. The user with the proper permissions can then drag the file to their personal folder. What really amazes me, is that most IT people/dept.s do not realize that a scan to email [including the attachment] MUST be archived for seven years per federal law, which creates a huge storage problem. The same is not true for a shared scan to folder setup. When we explain this to the IT people, all of a sudden a shared folder to scan to does not seem to be a problem. Besides they [IT] control who has access to the folder, unless they are lazy and just enable everyone access.
