    CS-2551ci C4202 & C4204

About a month ago this machine was locked up with a C4204 (BD steady-state error Y) but the customer had said they were getting C4202 (BD steady-state error C) codes before it locked up. I replaced the LK8325Y and the machine worked and there was only one logged C4204 code in the Maintenance Log. Today they called back with the same C4202 code and then when I got there it was in a C4204 and I could not get rid of it. I don't have another LSU to try so I am going back in the morning to swap the Y laser with one of the others to see if the C code follows the Y LSU. Anyone run into this on these models? Thanks

I think that I've changed exactly (1) laser on a CS2050 ever. Kyoceras seem to have very few actual laser failures. On older Kyoceras most laser codes are caused by primary charge arcing.

    I don't know if that helps. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Had one 2551ci six months ago with similar problems. We exchanged the LSU units as you propose to do, in our case k to y to verify that it was the LSU. Initially it seemed that the problem was resolved, only to have it resurface many prints later. Replacing the LSU that we moved resolved the issue. Having a laser unit issue with a KYO is rare it does happen though very rarely. If your error code follows the swapping of the LSU's you will know where the problem lies.

Thanks, the Y laser is the one I replaced initially about a month ago, so if it's bad again then either the part was defective from Kyocera or something is causing it to fail. I agree that Kyocera LSU's rarely fail, although I probably replaced 5 or more in the CS-2050 series, and the 6030/8030 I've changed at least 3, so it does happen. The 6030/8030 would also get C-4200 codes from bad Main charge units.

Swapped the Y & K LSU and machine worked, but before I put the covers back on prior to turning it on I noticed the Duct Cover and Duct Holder weren't closed properly. I opened them up and closed them tightly and turned the machine on without the C 4204, I don't know if having that cover not closed properly would cause a laser code but time will tell. Thanks for the help.
