    Smoking voyager fusers!!!!

Just a heads up on the Voyager fusers. I replaced one on a machine and in less than 2 days the customer called and said the machine started smoking and tripped a circuit breaker. Took the fuser front cover off and found that the wire clip that holds the bushing on the roller, fell off and arced across the electrode of the lamp. The fuser was toast and I saw a small part of the clip welded to the electrode. That was the only way I could tell what happened. Oh by the way, this is the second fuser that this happened too.

There have been problems on that series if im not mistaken. We had a KMC-4035 that just continuously broke upon installation. We still managed to keep the client happy by making jokes about it and giving him preferred response time for a while till his machine was sorted. 4 fusers later

        Wow!!!!! That's lovely!

I've seen something similar on a Canon iR550, but that one turned out to be a fluke, one-time-only. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          voyager fusers suck

We just changed fuser nr. 5 in just less than a year. Customer not happy, and we changed to Ricoh MPC2000 (we'd had no trouble with them whatsoever, tons better than previous Ricoh-models). Previously changed power, but no luck. Last one only working 2 weeks before plunging into c6000. Fuse/thermostat inside belt-rollers is crap-quality. This is really disapointing, a fuser isn't rocket science. Seems like they have had no control over manufacturing and/or parts from China. The whole line is crappier than the old KM-C2630.(except for actually having colour) Again: really disappointed, and a mayor reason for the company to ditch Kyo for Ricoh. and thats sad, because if (or when) Kyo manage to make colour mfp with same quality and durability as the black/monocrome mpfs, they'll be unbeatable. if the Saturns fail, Kyo is done in Europe, and if the Saturns only address half the problems, they'll still be plenty of not-so-good things left.
