From the service manual - maintenance section 4-1 page 353 ,
you need to unplug from the wall, not just turning it off for the counts to reset.

hi,

each devive you work on, => unplug power cord.
this will avoid side-effects,of non powering off when changing parts.

so the only way now is to unplugp device.
change part;
plug in and follow the procedure mentioned in SM or flyer supplied with the part.
