Checked and cleaned machine , including optics and the charge unit . Optics were dusty dirty , not the problem though . Ran some pages from SP 001 , they were fine . Copies from glass were fine also , ran about 20 . After cleaning , the 1st 2 pages through the RADF , wide feed , on the rear side of the image at about an inch in from side there was a dark , kind of jagged looking black band down the entire image , it was about 1/2 inch wide and the machine gave me an error to clean the slit lens , which I had just done , checked it anyway , no problem. Reset and make more pages with the RADF , run about 60 more pages , 1 and 2 sided , never had the problem again . Test lamp in diagnostics , seems to be on evenly full and not flickering . Intermittent problem , customer had samples too , but only once in awhile they said . Only about 100 K since Maintenance kit installed .

A sample might help trigger my memory. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I've seen insects and live vermin(gecko) moving around in the optics.
Makes for a great hair pulling day...

Re: CS 3035 PCQ Black Band with ADF Only
When you removed the platen to clean the optics and re-installed it, did you inadvertently pinch the foam seal between the platen glass and the slit glass? A piece of the seal hanging down could cause this. From the memory banks, had one a couple of years ago where the scanner when going to the home position for scanning from the adf, dirt had collected on the scanner rails and skewed the scan. Simply cleaned the rails and re-lubed to solve the problem.Comment
