F/W upgrades with CF card and Flash

Does anybody know why they mention to update firmware on the KM25/3060's with a compact flash card and not a usb flash drive...???

But if you do the firmware with a usb flash drive then it still works.

Copystar/Kyocera Mita products have traditionally updated firmware via compact flash. Only recently have the Falcon III & Statos platforms allowed USB firmware upgrades.

I generally prefer the CF cards just because I have a card dedicated for each model, and don't have to fiddle with preparing cards. My one USB stick is loaded with all kinds of crap, and it's less convenient to clean it off for this purpose. Time-wise it's equally fast to do the actual firmware upgrade, so if you have the two options it doesn't really make any difference. =^..^=

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Dont get me wrong. I know that.

In the firmware history, KM has a message there that says you must do it with a compact flash and not USB. That is my question, why?

The only thing that I can add to my previous comments is that in all the doumentation (manuals, online courses, and classroom training) KM states that the CF card is the "preferred" method. Since that is the way I do it, I have not come across any drawbacks from other methods.

Now every once in a while an EEPROM doesn't properly take the firmware, and must be replaced. Even if you're careful, do everything right, and don't turn the power off too soon, it can still happen. I've replaced perhaps 1/2 dozen EEPROMs just for that reason. =^..^=
