Re: TA 420i - slow printing from Unix

I've just tried this PPD and the speed of the printing is the same - sloooow... so nothing changed

    EDIT:
one of the printing files was printed faster, but after one 2sided page there was a blank one
Last edited by KOBA; 05-27-2019, 04:35 PM. Reason: more info for different PPD

Only option would be to try an HP laserjet ppd as kyocera's emulate hp

Re: TA 420i - slow printing from Unix

Thanks for answer, but as for HP driver it won't work (we have additional hardware like finisher/bigger paper casette).

I've found one option somewhere on the internet for kyocera printers - setting an addditional option for printer

        Code:
        lpstat -v
        lpadmin -p <printer_name> -o pdftops-max-image-resolution-default=300
Hope this will change the printout time..

Re: TA 420i - slow printing from Unix

          Hello again!

Kyocera got new printer drivers for Linux KyoceraLinux-Phase6 (https://cdn.kyostatics.net/dlc/pl/dr...190626.tar.zip)

So I got them up and running on Linux workstations, but there is a strange error when I try to print something - "Filter failed".

          Job from error_log:

Anyone could help with this problem?

I've searched the web for some info about this, but most of errors are for different printers (mostly HP).

Tried to update cups and cups-filters (some users were pointing that this could be the cause)
          Code:
[COLOR=#000000][FONT=&amp]cups is already the newest version (2.1.3-4ubuntu0.9).[/FONT][/COLOR]
[COLOR=#000000][FONT=&amp]cups-filters is already the newest version (1.8.3-2ubuntu3.5)[/FONT][/COLOR]

Don't know much about pure Unix, I am moderately versed with Linux and Mac however. A common theme among my customers is they install the printers on LPD ports. I have had several Mac users swear this is the only way to install a printer other than usb. In the Linux/Mac world, I have always installed using the ip/jet direct socket on port 9100. Most of time it was like night and day for speed. Just my $.02 don't know if this applies for pure Unix.

Thx for reply, but I've already used socket://ip:9100 never added by LPD

One more thing you can try is to go into the print language default and take it off automatic and set it to Kpdl (kyo's ps3 emulation)

Printers are set to KPDL emulation.
In CUPS there is no place to choose emulation type.
