Hey all, I've got one of these with a fairly low meter in my shop giving me a bad polygon code. I've got enough good used ones laying around that I normally just swap them out if I have a difficult problem, but I'm thinking I might pull one out of a parts machine and replace it. I don't have the manual, never needed one before. What would be the easiest way of pulling it out, or is there no easy way and I should make a parts machine out of it?

There's no easy way to get to that laser ... if that's what your asking. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: kyocera 1128 c4000 error
No, I'm not afraid to turn it into a parts machine if I have to, I was looking for someone that had done it before to tell me if it was even worth doing. Some of these desktop machines can be very time consuming, if you'd ever replaced the drive gear kit on an hp4015 you'd know what I mean. I have another machine I can use for parts too, but as I've never replaced a laser on one of these I'm not sure where to start and will have to figure it out. I don't know if it's a 30 minute job or a 2 hour job. If it's 2 hours, then disassembling one for the part, then disassembling the second one I want to fix and reassembling could take up to 6 hours, not worth the investment in time. I hope that answers your question at to why I asked, and thank you for the oh so helpful answer you posted.Comment

I've done a few of these, and it is a little bit of a pain, not the worst thing I've ever done though. Pretty much the top half of the machine almost down to the frame is gonna come off, just make sure you dont lose any screws :P and good luck.Comment

Re: kyocera 1128 c4000 error
Well, Blackcat was correct, there is no easy way. I finally had some free time and decided to tear apart a parts machine to see how difficult it was. The answer to my question is it worth the time is a big fat NO. You have to take all covers off and remove the entire scanner section, then remove the cover of the engine to get to it. Many cables to be unthreaded through different holes. Can I do it now, yes I can. Will I ever do it again, no I wont.Comment
