[Misc] Kyocera TASKalpha 306ci scan to yahoo email fails

The machine has been set to scan to a gmail account and works fine. The customer wishes to use a yahoo account going forward. This fails. I have verified the username and password the SMTP settings. Network settings should be good for either email service. I used these settings:

• Set SMTP Protocol to On
• Set SMTP Port Number to 587
• Set SMTP Server Name to smtp.mail.yahoo.com *also tried IP address
• Set SMTP Server Timeout to 180
• Set Authentication Protocol to On
  • Set Authentication as to Other
  • Set Login User Name to <email address>
  • Set Login Password to <above email address password>
  
  
• Set SMTP Security to STARTTLS
• Set Sender Address to the _same_ email address as used for the Login User Name

What error code are you getting ? That's always the best place to start.

SATech, I believe yahoo SMTP port should be 465 with security set to SSL/TLS. I also think that you have to have the actual, correct account name (i.e. XXX@yahoo.com) entered for the "Sender address".

CWP, Thanks for the reply. I did try Ports 25,465 and 587 as well as the username XXX@yahoo.com and password that i used to log into the account on the web. SSL/TLS was the first security settings I tried.

1102 is a username/password authentication error. I know you said you used that account to log into through a browser, which was going to be my suggestion. I'd try setting up a new account just to test.

I did use the info from the browser I even copied and pasted. I will give a different yahoo account a shot. Thanks tmaged

Yahoo Mail no longer has a security setting to Allow Less Secure Apps. Go to Account Name, Account Info, Account Security and Generate App Password. That will be the one to use in the MFP for authentication. For how long???
