Kyocera C8525 and M6530cdn display freezes due to router

Worked on a FS-C8525 for the last couple weeks and the display would freeze when pressing the System Menu key. If you pressed SM then copy or send or fax... Nothing. Reach over and unplug the LAN, then the display would cycle through the keys that were pressed earlier. Thought it was a Main Board, but the same happened with a known good Main Board.

So I transported another working C8525 to the location and the same issue occurred. I was able to rule out the cable drop since I plugged into the router directly with another cable. I used the same cable from my laptop into both machines and NO issue. Able to print and scan without problems. Must be a router. No other problems with these machines in house, I had transported theirs to our facility and it worked.

Had the same freezing issue today with a M6530cdn at a different location. The router seemed to be the issue due to since I some machines could ping the MFP but others couldn't. I cycled the power on the router and just happened to press the System Menu key during the router's startup, and the MFP display froze up the exact same as the C8525.

Told both customers to find new routers.

Just thought that this was weird having the exact same issue in the same week... they must have caught the virus.

More than likely, they've created a loop on the network. You can use wireshark to see what's happening on there. It's really not your problem though, especially if you're not sure what you're doing on a network.
    Hope that helps !
