    FS-9530 firmware

    Good afternoon,
Im trying to update firmware on a FS-9530. I used the service bulletin to figure out which version i needed and downloaded it from kdacentral. It appears to have 2 files. i saved it to a usb drive and put the flash drive into machine. Nothing happened. i waited a few and still nothing. The machine knew there was a flash drive installed because i could could navigate to "remove memory". I assume it is the same procedure as every other Kyocera machine. Save files to root of drive and put it in machine. Pretty simple stuff. Is there something I am missing? Any advice?

    Thanks,
    Chuck

    Hy

I think you need CF card that is formatted in device first then you put one file at the time if im not mistaken, didnt done this for a while.

Make sure you unzip the files that you download to the USB drive, the machine will not pull f/w from the zipped file. If that does not work try a different USB drive (SanDisk I think is what Kyocera used to recommend). Also don't use a large USB drive; remember that this is an older architecture machine, so try to use the smallest USB stick you can find and make sure that once it starts that you leave it until you are absolutely certain the update is complete or you will corrupt with little chance of recovery.

Thanks for the quick response. The service manual says usb will work. i hope i dont need a cf card. i cant remember how to use those! I know the usb drive is good but I hadnt thought about the size of usb drive. I will get a smaller drive and try it. the file is unzipped.

        Thanks!

Have a read of the service manual.

I always unzip the files and put them in the root directory. Turn the machine off and insert the flash drive and then turn the machine ON. After the updates are installed power down the machine and remove the flash drive. Restart the machine.

Hey! Shout out to CWP! It was the size of the flash drive. Put it on a 2 gig flash drive and it worked like a charm! Thanks for your quick response.
Thanks for yours too copier tech

                Good Job!

yeah older machines need to have 2gb format Fat32.. I always fresh format & error check the drive to make sure of no back sectors.

And since CWP fixed your issue, how about going back and Like/Thank him ..also if you could click on the star *lower left corner* click approve and give feedback.

This gives the tech 'rep points' and show that 1) he knows the issue 2) is willing to share w/ others 3) is a trusted tech when problems arise.
