We have a CS 3553ci in the field that has been throwing F246 error codes. Not every day, but on a regular basis. I spent quite a bit of time out there on my last call and did the following (Changed IP addess, Full HDD format, Firmware Update and turned of WSD print protocol). The code happens so random that I can't quite nail down what is triggering it. The manual specifically mentions F248 codes as print related, but that's not the code I'm getting - it's always a F246. Has anybody experienced this before? The copier was installed in July but the codes didn't start triggering until around last month. HDD and/or main board have not been replaced, but that's on my list of things to try next based on the guidance from the service manual.

Re: CS 3553ci F246 errors
Similar causes CF248/CF246.
Does your customer print directly out of web pages or applications embedded in a website? That's where a lot of these codes originate. One real estate guy showed me that on his laptop (using web based Adobe) pulled the error every time, but his desktop (using installed Adobe Reader) never did. Another customer printed their docs out of a web based application that errored every time. This customer fortunately had the option to upload the PDF document rather than print, which then printed fine from the installed Adobe Reader on their PC. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: CS 3553ci F246 errors
Agree with your assessment Blackcat, many of the CF246/CF248 codes are caused by mal-formed webpages. I would like to add if they are using a web based application, they could also have permission problems. Had a case nearly two years ago where a contractor for a state agency was using Word templates to generate documents for the state that had embedded links to their company's data server to populate graphs and charts that would throw the CF246 code. Problem was that the users were logged into the state system and the data server linked to in the Word documents did not recognize the state's username and password. It took a couple of days working with the state's IT to figure that one out. Resolved the issue when the state's IT got the company to add the user names and passwords for their employees that where logged into the state system.Comment

Re: CS 3553ci F246 errors
Thank you for your feedback. We are ordering a new hard drive and main board to see if this corrects the issue. I'm totally on board with this possibly being a print related issue; however, there are so many users that print to this machine it would be like finding a needle in a haystack. I'll jump in the hay if this doesn't correct the issue. I'll keep you posted.Comment

Re: CS 3553ci F246 errors
Just looking at our CS 4052ci in the office, and it's set to "Substitute with device fonts". I didn't change this setting, so not sure if that's the new default or not?Comment
