if you're lucky, your fs-1118 is loaded with a stupid fw where there's nowhere to fill in logon and password (in the adress book) to the server you're scanning to.

ok so I went back to the customer today...
I took my laptop with and a cross-over cable.
        host: my ip address
        path: scans

        Perfect!
then plug the cross-over cable into one of the customers workstations,
NOT WORKING! (yes I did change the ip address)

They are on a secure network domain.
I tried replacing the ip address with the full computer name and or domain name in a few different combinations. ie. \ : space . etc.

It is just not going through..... am I missing a step somewhere? What am I doing wrong?

Could be a pile of different things.

1 The network policies do not allow share access on individual work stations
2 2003 authentication is turned on

3 Login and password are wrong.

          Just to name a few.

If they log on to a domain controller, this likely will be setting the policy for each work station.

Have you tried setting up a share on their server?

Have tried using fully qualified domain name logon on the kyocera? example...(userlogin@theirserver.local)

You should be able to use the IP of the machine you are scanning to. I normally do this to eliminate any net bios issues then sort out the name after.

Anyway just a few suggestions to check out

          Cheers

When you setup the shared folder, check the Sharing and Security tabs and make sure that Everyone has Full Access to the folder. Read, Write, Modify, etc. Also depending on what OS, the user and password has to match a valid user login on the PC. Example, whenever I try scanning to XP Home or Vista Home, you can type in any user and password, as long as the fields aren't blank. However with 2k, XP Pro, there needs to be a user to match. Try setting up a new user with the login "a" and password "a". This was when you scan for user and password all you need to hit is 2 (just like texting).
