    6501 processing..

I've got a 6501i that will not print and is stuck processing print jobs from trays 3&4. Once I pull trays 3&4 out it will pull paper from tray 2 and print as should. The machine recognizes trays 3&4 when closed, but it will not lift those paper trays and print. I have changed default paper trays away from 3&4, but still gets stuck processing if those paper trays are closed. There have been no jams an have cycled power etc..

Had one that I had to replace the LCC pwb but most of the time it is just paper behind the trays.

Their is most likely paper caught behind tray 3&4 might be in the connector, common issue

have seen this happen too. There's no interlock for this tray for the strangest reason.

I agree, I have also had sensors knocked out of place too.

is the print driver on maybe a server? overriding your settings. i have seen it happen the print driver options overrides what the settings on the machine are. it stumped me the first time, as i figured the machine settings would be the default. just something you might look at. good luck.

              Great suggestions already given,.

Just as a precaution I always completely remove the stacks of paper from 3 and 4 as there may be a few on the bottom of the stack bent up,, curled up,, and out of sorts hindering lift and proper descent.

Here's one for you, we also had paper out of new reams cause issues like this, in fact CASES of new "cheap" paper. The paper was cut 1/32 to 1/16 maybe even more, longer at the factory and was too snug for the fixed guides in 3 and 4. There would be lift issues, jam issues, and erratic behavior. The customer brought in better quality paper, and these issues went away. Check to see if the paper is too snug with very little to no marginal gaps against the fixed paper guides of the tray.
