Hello, we have a 3501i in maintenance and it keeps warning that the waste toner bottle is full when it just has a little toner in the tank, the bottle has been changed for a new one, the tray has been changed, the waste toner collector , sensor and plastic that activates the sensor, any ideas?

Re: TaskAlfa 3501i waste toner problem
I would check the wire harness that connects the PARTS INNER UNIT which is the section you remove to access the drum and DV. I would suspect a bent pin or problem with the harness. Also check the waste toner bottle there are 2 parts to it the optical sensor and the diaphragm make sure both are intact and clean. I have inserted a brand new bottle and if toner gets on the window it shows full again because it blocks the optical sensor. -
Re: TaskAlfa 3501i waste toner problem
Update firmware to latest available.
Run maint mode U155 waste toner calibration.
-edit- Seems that this fix is for TAxxx2 machines...
Anyway firmware update is a way to go.
The problem could be dirty/stuck spring/sensor under the waste toner assembly.Last edited by rapo_tech; 12-30-2020, 08:13 AM.Comment

Re: TaskAlfa 3501i waste toner problem
We've received a few badly manufactured waste bottles that the agitator was seized. I got one of them to rotate (it had popped out of the hole in the side of the bottle, and only because they didn't have another), the other I just swapped. I couldn't tell if they were genuine or aftermarket. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: TaskAlfa 3501i waste toner problem
does it say that the bottle is "full", or "almost full"? There are two different sensors involved with those readings.Comment

Re: TaskAlfa 3501i waste toner problem
Are you sure it wasn't an old bottle that was emptied? This can be done but the neck of the bottle needs to be spotless. A light sensor shines through the neck of the bottle and a little bit of toner will trip it. Also spray air in the machine section where the light would be.

I think it is a connector issue. Look to see if one of the pins were pushed in.Comment
