    new kyocera colour machines

i am an old tech who was a firm believer in firmware updates being a load of rubbish .
one of my techs had a taskalfa 300 that was doing some strange things .
    1. everytime it was switched on it would say getting settings from hard drive.
2.it would only allow four sheets into tray a then said tray a was full.
    3.various fuser error codes .
    4 touch screen intermittant .
he said he had done the firmware upgrade .he also got the customer to get the power checked for consistency .
the machine came in again for a fuser error .this time i went not having a clue what it might be .i reset the fuser error and decided to do a firmware update.while it was downloading i went into diagnostics to calibrate the touchpad .each time i tried it would go so far then lock up .i left that and when the download had finished i put it on the machine .lo and behold when it had finished .no more fuser errors .touch pad could be calibrated and tray a was working fine .the moral of the story is firmware updates are very important.

This is a good practice to follow with any machine from any manufacturer built after about 1996.

Thw TASKalfa has already had three firmware upgrades in a month. Just be sure to try out the firmware on a machine close nearby. The Harrier went from version 352 (OK), version 360 (laser errors), version 362 (more laser errors), now version 2-9-09 (I've only just loaded it on our in shop machine. We'll find out if there are any major bugs before it goes to the customers.). =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

          Firmware up dates

Do you have to be a dealer in order to do these updates. The man who I worked for from 1984-2006 was a Mita dealer when I started till 1996 when he lost the dealer ship now I strictly work on off-lease copiers. I can get parts and supplies yet usually it's been my experience when going to mita for something like this you have to be checked out on the copier before they give any help. If not how do I go about getting what I need to do the updates and where.
          Thanks!
