    Prepunched Media Type

    How many of you thought that "Prepunched" media type was just a label, so everybody knew where the prepunched paper was, or where to load it?

    It turns out that "Prepunched" media type actually does something! My enduser called for compression blurs 55mm from the trailing edge, only from tray #3 & #4 ... oh, yeah ... KM-8003i. In fact the prepunched paper was loaded Letter in tray #3 & #4, so that middle hole was incorrectly detecting the trailing edge at 8", when the hole came by. I confirmed it by loading not-punched paper: no blur.

    I had already given my little talk on the topic recommending loading the prepunched media LTR-R so the holes don't line up with the middle sensors ... and by the way, you can set this "Prepunched" media type so everybody knows that you switched it around. A had to change some of the paper tray defaults to get everything to work properly from copying and printing.

    Then just for kicks, I set tray #3 & #4 to prepunched media type and the blurs were gone! I couldn't believe it. That media type setting actually changes the paper timing! Then, I had to tell the customer to ignore everything I just said, because I found a setting that compensates for the holes.

    Amazing. =^..^=
    If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

    I found that to be very entertaining. I better make note of this in case I ever see it.

      Yes jam detection changes. However not for the ADF only the paper path.
