General Question: Do Kyocera machines use CMY to create black or just K?

So previously a Ricoh technician, recently switched to Kyocera. With the Ricoh's, when printing in color, CMY are layered to create black. Is this true with Kyocera's as well?

Generally speaking, I am asking as I have a TASKalfa 306ci with a ghosting/repeat/double image issue. First occurrence is ~95 mm from the second occurrence which matches the drum circumference for this model. Occurs on every page, no fading from 1st to last page. However, it is happening on black and white AND color test pages. The only color ghosting is black which is causing me to scratch my head and wonder if Kyocera is using the black drum to print black, even on color prints. Alternatively, could be the separation/cleaning blade on the fusing unit.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

I don't know Ricoh but in KonMin K drum is what mostly your culprit is.

Typically, "full color" uses all colors to make black, while "auto-color" will smartly detect where color needs to be and make black only black.

95mm is most likely the black drum. And yes, black is a composite of all four colors including black. The pressure roller can give a repetitive defect as 94mm ... close to 95mm. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
