Is it the little icon just to the left of the time. That is toner remaining.

Take a picture and post it if that is not you are talking about.

That is a NFC tag. Used for upgrading the Speed License with your cell phone.

What? I’ve never heard of using this feature to upgrade a speed licence. That is done via L-Keys and the licence keyed in via the control panel. Are you saying there is an app to do this from a mobile device?
The NFC functionality, as far as I’m aware, is there for android devices to execute print and scan function via the mobile print app and to enable connection to the machine
          From the mobile print manual
How do I connect an Android device to a printing device with NFC?

NFC must be enabled on your Android device and on the printing device.

You can tap on the printing device’s NFC tag from each function screen to connect to a printing device. What connection is used for NFC on Android devices?

A printing device can have up to 3 IP addresses, which are Wired, Wi-Fi, and Wi-Fi Direct. When you tap on an NFC tag, the app checks for Wi-Fi availability in the following order:
          • Wired
          • Wi-Fi
          • Wi-Fi Direct

When you cannot connect to a printing device with Wired or Wi-Fi, connect with Wi-Fi Direct.

Thanks, by why the heck would you do it this way. Seems direct from the L-Keys web site is so much simpler.

Sharp had a NFC tag like that. You used the Sharp app on your phone and you could tap your phone, the NFC tag connected your phone to the machines wifi direct and then you could print from your phone. Worked ok. Nobody used it. Only worked with Android phones though.

Im assuming this is what the Kyocera can do as well.

That's exactly what it is for. You can use Kyocera Mobile Print with NFC. Upgrade with NFC is just an addition (I didn't know about😳).
