    [CQ] M8124 light copies

    Howdy folks

Got a M8124 in a pretty dirty environment. Customer prints a copy of the invoice then copies it in color for some reason. When we arrived on site the grey half tone faded from front frame to rear frame. We cleaned the CIS and white strip under the glass. Ran U464 and U410. Ran tone curve and calibration from system menu. It didn't fix the issue.

We took the expensive chart A and ran that in U411. It made it worse. Now when we copy all the grey half tones are gone.
We ran U411, set it to auto then scanned the chart off the glass.

I scrutinized the prints and the top of prints were slightly lighter than the bottom so we removed the laser and found dirt on the edge of each polygon motor mirror. We cleaned those and that restored the density front frame to rear frame for the most part. Charge rollers were cleaned and the LSU glass cleaned.

We did a color scan and its decent.

Machine has 99k black and 38k color. No parts have been put in the machine and it's 4 years old.

The blacks in the "paid" and the "e transfer" box are perfectly black on the print and the copy. The "Paid" is in process black when you check it under a loupe and it's really good on the copy and print.

Trouble shooting is saying to replace the CIS and then the main board but the scans are pretty decent so i don't think it would be that.

    Any thoughts?

Something to add, i got the customer to print the invoice to a PDF and i tried it on my 3253. It printed fine. We copied it and it was super washed out in the half tones. We have Prevent Bleed Through enabled by default. We changed the exposure and just happened to notice when you set it to Photo it turns bleed through off and the copies were perfect on my 3253.

Unfortunately Bleed through was already turned off on the customer machine.
