Thats what I think also. Its just odd. Maybe the controller board. I don't wanna be just shooting in the dark on it, but that's about what it amounts to at this point. I placed a loaner in there for the time being. I'll work with this one in the shop. Any more ideas?

Some You tube videos on this error message say to remove/peel RFID sticker from toner cartridge.

Sounds like the main PCB got a surge.

Incidents of power surge disrupting the 24v system can zap the eeproms. LVPS failures have triggered conditions where counters where altered (+60K), TK volumes suddenly go to zero and require new, and then new TK's/MK parts recognized but do not register in Event Log.

Be sure to keep the original drum unit in before you replace PWB's or you could brick it. It's tied into the eeprom verification loop.

If you are lucky the problem is at the PWB level. If an EEPROM is messed up that could be hard to track down.

we have a lot of "unknown toner" messages in our fleet, it's due to the mechanical fit of the cartridge to the drum-toner eeprom reading contacts. It's easily bypassed per the instructions which will allow the device to run otherwise fine. There's probably more than one issue on your device...

Had a similar issue to this. Regardless of what we did, we couldn't get past that error message. Removing the fax unit fixed this. A queued fax isn't stored in the fax line, it is stored in on the fax board. Removing the entire fax unit should allow you to get past the error and into maintenance mode.

I would try to flash with the latest firmware.

Had 1 do this, with different message. Firmware fixed it for me
also had 2 task alfa 4002 also do this and firmware fixed on those as well.

Reloaded the Firmware this evening. Still the same message. If its of any importance, the message is actually the same with the toner cartridge completely removed from the machine....Even rebooted the machine with the cartridge out and the same message came up... really not sure where to go from here. I will probably disassemble and check connections on "PWD connect L board." Drum unit goes through this board to the control board. Otherwise, may be a lost cause. Oddest problem I've had in some time.

You can bypass the fax problem by unplugging the fuser typically. Then go into service mode and 671.

                        HI

                        Was this problem resolved?

I have same error on M3145dn machine. ??

Would like to know if it was a board or drum unit issue?

                          Afternoon All.

                          Here is the fix.

I had a few of the following machines give this exact same error. 3645/3145.

The fix is to get your Eprom reprogrammed. I sent mine to KDZA and they kindly reset the Eprom's and sorted out the Toner Error.

                          Kind Regards
