TA351ci "no paper in cassette 1"

    Hiya all,

I've got a TA351ci which is intermittently showing No paper in cassette 1 message on screen, usually when the paper in the tray gets low.
I have tried stretching out of the spring.
Given the sensors a blow out. Have to lay it on it's back side to do this.
The fact it's intermittent is making it difficult to determine the cause, but my thoughts are with the sensor assy. Any thoughts? I know this model is based on a lot of the older colour printers so it may have been something seen before.

Does it display the correct paper size or does it read "Stmt R"?

The rear paper guide may be broken.

I think you meant to specify model KM-3051ci or KM-3551ci. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Heya, it displays the correct paper size onscreen.
So I know the switch with the 3 flags that determines the paper size specified on the dial on the tray is ok.

And no it's not a 3551ci its a TA351ci .... it's basically the new version of an M6530cdn if that helps a little Colour A4 MFP

Not familiar with this model, but on the 6535, there is a sensor arm that hangs down into the cassette that determined paper empty. Bending that arm down, so it protrudes more into the cassette would solve the false paper empty.

If its like the 6535 there is a white flag at the back of the machine that determines the paper height that gets bent. Have replace a few.

                Hiya chaps,

I looked at the white arm that comes down to meet the paper when the cassette is pushed into the device, and this was indeed bent upwards too far, a little bending down and it seems to now register a low amount of paper in the tray!

Thank you for your help on this

Is this model sold in the US as I have never seen this model. If so when was it released?

                  Thanks

I don't believe it to be US as the one I was working on was here in the UK and the customer has 20 of them dotted about the place. In terms of release date I am unsure but if it helps the one that I was working on had been at the customers for 2 years already.
If you google the model TA351ci you will see what they look like.
Also there is a newer model out which is the TA352ci.
                    Thanks
