    4052ci popping noise

There is a popping noise coming from the gear on the 302ND94013 PARTS BOX WASTE H ASSY SP gear. Is the box at fault or is the 02ND94224 PARTS WTB UNIT SP. Never had this before and I don't want to take something apart if I don't have to.

    Anyone had this problem before?

    Thanks

There's most likely a blockage. You'll have to do some investigating. Usually you'll find a spun gear or a broken auger.

Are you using generic toner? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

        Always used OEM toner.

Unfortunately, you will have to do some disassembly either way. I've had this happen for a few different reasons.
          1) The customer doesn't change the waste toner as they should and it back up the entire waste auger transport which in turn breaks the gear.
          2) The plastic portion of the waste toner box assembly ultimately snaps together as a top and bottom; I have had the top and bottom come "unsnapped" in the far back right corner looking in from the front side of the machine.
          3) I've had 2 cases early after these machines were released, where the toner would rocked up which would lock up the gears and cause them to break.

In any of the above scenarios, you would still need to remove the Drive Assembly and at minimum vacuum the debris from the auger section. If it is a case of the toner being rocked up, I would just replace auger assembly.
