    Lifting the heavier color copiers.

Is it just me or does anyone else have a problem lifting the heavier copiers like the 5053ci or the other color copiers using the grips on the left side of the copier? I don't have a problem with the handles on the right side..no problem at all but the grips are so low and close together that give me problems.
I'm thinking about making a bar with handles welded to them with like maybe a j shaped part that would fit into the hole where the grips are to make it easier to lift. We're a small company that doesn't have a delivery truck with a lift. We load into the back of our company pickup truck, strap it down and go....I don't know....just trying to make things easier...

You might try straps, that pass over your shoulders. You can support the weight with your back & shoulders, not your arms.

Many options ... something like this:
Amazon.com: Moving Straps for Lifting Mattress,Furniture, Appliances - 2 Person Carry and Lift : Industrial & Scientific

    =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I used to lift these a lot with just two of us. I would give the handles to the person going backwards and lift the machine from underneath so it would be level all the way up. We used to take our time scanner, drums, dev, toners, fuser out then rebuild at the top.

Horrible part of the job very dangerous I'm amazed we are still expected to get these upstairs unaided by machines.

... there is a high chance that sooner or later you or your co-workers are going to hurt yourself moving copiers like this. You could be disabled for weeks because you were trying to save some money.

You need to partner with a small moving company for jobs like this and build it into the cost that you quote your customer.

The tailgate on the back of most pickup trucks is too high to manually lift copiers into/ out of. At the very least build your self a ramp.

Moving any heavy equipment that is ready to deliver with a pick-up truck is crazy to me. I would suggest a mini van. I have been using either a Dodge Caravan or now I have the new Chrysler Pacifica.. .. I have delivered plenty of the 2553Ci machines and ones of that size & weight for over 30 years & the van is low enough that it saves your back. Me & 1 other guy load it up & deliver from my van, Way easier than trying to lift up high enough to get into the back of a truck for sure. You will hurt your back or even worse if you keep doing that. It is insane the weight of these new floor model full color machines for sure!!

You might try getting an enclosed trailer 4X8' with a drop down door for starters. You can always add a lightweight winch at the front inside of the trailer to strap machines with.

Excellent advice. Short of a liftgate, I think this is the best option.

Used to use a drop trailer that will drop to ground level. The A-frame with the hitch on acts as a leverage arm to lift or to drop it.

Something like the image but different in design.

I'm always afraid of the pot holes & terrible roads that would cause the machine to be jarred too much. I think with a 4x8 trailer or the drop trailer you would bounce a lot because there is no suspension on them to absorb the horrible road conditions.....just my opinion

My 2-cents is to do what you gotta do if you need to get a copier delivered and get paid. But you should save every extra penny to buy a delivery truck with a liftgate. It's critical to your safety and health.

I worked for a small Sharp dealer years ago and that is all we used for years and never had any issues. They installed a winch at the front that would strap on to the machines and would pull them up and down the ramp if needed. Eventually as the company grew they purchased a truck with a liftgate that was nice as well but one time a tech did not put the stoppers up at the end of the lift gate and a new MX-4101n went crashing to the ground.
