    Copystar CS3500i

Hi, Don't know Kyocera / Copystar that well but looked at one next door to one of my big Konica Minolta accounts. This new customer almost begged me to work on it because the only Kyocera dealer in area went out of business. Anyway the pages had some streaks & smudges. I saw that machine is old and tried to upgrade but no go. Downloaded the service manual and looked simple to service. Machine has around 300k on meter mostly legal size paper. Drum has 155k. I pulled drum and it looked great! looking inside there was a lot of loose toner around and on developer unit. I see that drum & developer units are rated at 600k so both should be ok. I thought maybe it needed a good cleaning and maybe replace the drum & trans belts blades so told them I would stop back without doing anything. After some research I see there are no blades available just complete units are sold?

*Edited to add something I forgot, there is also toner on back side of page. Thinking that could be transfer belt?

To the Kyo/CS experts do you think a good cleaning will get the print quality back? Do the drum and trans belt come apart to clean / vac? Anything else you can suggest to get the quality back would be greatly appreciated?

    Thanks in advance

Did 2 few months ago. They run dirty, spent more time cleaning than replacing parts. You may want to do MC-6307 main charge assemly (precision roller) also. I did main charge and developer DV-6305 on one 3500i I cleaned and reuse the drum and transfer unit. Perform calibrations per manual and that old beast looked good.
Be aware smudges, were due to toner dust falling into and between paper verticle feed guides and on paper feed rollers.

    Hope this help.

The 00 and 01 series run dirty due to lack of or worn seals. If you can find one 302LH94342 seal kit will go a long way in helping this issue.

To clean you will have to start by removing the back covers, the toner fan cover and place your vacuum hose in this housing for 3-5 seconds and replace the lid.
remove the toner disposal box vacuum out the duct work, and remove the toner disposal box cover and filters vacuum all of this and reassemble and put the back covers back on.
open the front cover and remove the inner section and vacuum it out and set aside. remove the developer and just under the mag roller you will see a duct cover this needs to be removed and vacuumed out reinstall cover and set aside.
Slide out the grey plastic with red felt registration cleaner vacuum and set aside.
remove the conveying unit from the right side clean and set aside.
remove the registration unit and clean and vacuum the inside frame...a lot miss this part and have call backs.
then reassemble and this should get you by even without the above seal kit...but the kit will keep you from having to do this every 300k or less
