[CQ] TASKalfa 3253ci ghosting and background

For the most of the prints, there is a very light background that looks like streaks in the feed direction. then intermittently, the machine will have heavy background and ghosting on the front of the page with streaks on the back of the page and go away after a few prints. I have replaced the K drum, K developer, transfer belt and fuser with no change in the issue. I have checked the service NAVI for bulletins and have found nothing and also re-flashed the firmware.

Has anyone else run into this issue?

I tried to attach a sample but the attachment function keeps erroring out.

    Thanks in advance!

Check the drum counter. Did it reset when you replaced the drum? Did you have the machine off and unplugged when you replaced the drum?

      Second this.

Sometimes on these machines when you fit a new drum with the power on the old drum values will be written to the new drum, you can check the drum driving distance in maintenance mode if its sky high then you will need to order another drum and replace it with the power switched off.

To confirm the above, if the driving distance is sky high and you go to maintenance mode U100 and turn the DC Bias adjustment off then the print will likely clear up, however you shouldn't leave this setting switched off as it affects calibration etc.

I checked the drum driving distance and sure enough it was sky high. I powered down the machine and unplugged from the wall, installed a new drum and went through the calibrations. The drum drive distance reset and the print quality is better but, on black and white prints, the first page comes out with a faint line that streaks from that point to the end of the page. second page comes out fine. The next print job will have the same defect on page 1 but page 2 is fine. This does not happen on color prints.

Good! I would check your K Dev unit also maybe have a look at the transfer belt
