[Misc] cs3550ci Output: Intenally Generated and Scanned Copy Degradation

Output lacking in quality and crispness. Long expired service contract. Are there any common failure components or by looking at the output any suggestions for what definitely needs replacing.

I usually order only oem parts from a reliable source but with it's age and pre-owned replacement unit available for about $2500usd we don't need to spend a great deal if something serious is on the horizon. I've unassembled from the transfer rubber belt assembly a few years ago but would rather not take apart and have to wait on what i found that needs replacing.

Thanks in advance for the words of wisdom!

Start with charge rollers and fresh paper. And a better test pattern would be nice, like this:

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

As Blackcat said. I would ceratinly pull all drums, dv units and vac real well. Pull drums out of cleaning units, remove blade and check the augers are not snapped and just builing up toner in spots.. Had a machine that snapped 3 augers at the rear of the units, gave me similar looking pages. New drum units, problem solved.. Find used drums from another machine and swap, it will tell you everything you need to know..

        +1

And run U410, U412. Clean the laser and possibly a DV refresh.

Pdf of output is over 12mb, put the file on OneDrive at https://1drv.ms/b/s!AiPEtCLC_5xDlgReQTbWY9OJiq50

The "Mountian darkness" on the lower left output is a shadow of my phone and hands and does NOT come from the output of the printer!

I hate putting up links as those are frequently red flags for me. if there are issues with this pdf PLEASE let me know!!!

            The obvious:

            lines:
            primary rollers C, Y, & K (MC-8720)

            poor primary or secondary transfer:
could be caused by moist paper OR
            transfer belt (TR-8505)

Then clean optics and perform developer refresh and calibration.

You may not need magenta and cyan developing units. I won't be able to tell for sure until I see the results of the things listed above. =^..^=

              Blackcat4866,
Thank you for your guidance and sharing of your knowledge!

I'll be glad to refresh and re-calibrate when i put back together. Thank you for supplying part numbers of potential parts needed!!!! Huge time saver!

Uploaded a few more pics of internals. Occasionally have replaced the primary rollers due to a bubble forming.

              Internal component pics: https://1drv.ms/f/s!AiPEtCLC_5xDlgVB...ddYYv?e=PNZEXR

Transfer belt (TR-8505): Was it smooth like the backside when new? Can it be turned inside out and function like new? First price i found shows if available was $399 ... with all the parts needed boss may deem not feasible to repair!

I've never tried reversing the transfer belt. I doubt that it would be successful. It was not ever shiny or smooth on the outside, even when new. And all those primary charge rollers are toast. It wouldn't hurt to do some vacuuming, if you had the right kind of vacuum (just don't vacuum the developer out of the developing units, and don't make physical contact with the drums). =^..^=

No, you can't reverse the transfer belt. Don't rub it hard. Whatever the coating used on the belt it's very sensitive and easily damaged. I've experimented on old belts. There's not a lot you can do with 'em other than replace when worn.
