    Error firmware update ecosys M2640idw

    Hi,
we have a big problem in a large account with 50 ecosys M2640idw units that need to be updated their firmware to the latest version and currently for security reasons our technicians cannot physically access the customer's premises with a usb stick.
We have decided with the customer's IT Department to update the units via network with the Kyocera Firmware Update Tool software.
The process runs correctly, detects the equipment by IP address, detects the old and the new firmware versions to be updated, starts the update and ends the process with the following error:

    Update error.
    Reason: Master file version error

anyone has experience with this issue or has it happened to you recently ?
thank you very much for your time !

If your dealer have KFS, you can register the devices on KFS then update the firmware that way.

      Good morning,
are military installations that have a protected intranet network and do not allow access from outside, therefore they cannot connect to any KFS server.
      The firmware file version is:
      FirmwareUpgradePackage_ECOSYS M2640idw_v02.06.0030.
thank you very much for your comment, any help is welcome.

        Hey,
If it were my problem, I would:
-Check whether custom or standard firmware is used currently (you mentioned its military organization, Tempest devices?)
-Check firmware release history for hints (maybe engine fw is 2S0_1000.002.001 or 2RV_1000.002.001)
-I would use Kyocera Net Viewer, making sure that the device can reach back to KNV on port 800 (801, 802,... depends on the number of devices being updated at the same time)
-If none above helps, I would connect Kyocera to a PC directly and try the procedure again.

          Hi,
          amazing, your suggestion works !!!!
the update works correctly if you connect the device by network cable directly to a laptop,
thank you very much for your help !!!!

            Glad it helped.
So this is a network configuration issue. In my experience, 90% of failed attempts to update firmware through a network are due to firewall misconfiguration.

what if you put the firmware on the USB device. no other files on the usb of course. give that to their IT dept to scan for viruses. it will come back clean. and then go to each copier and update firmware. no quick fix, but should work.
