I am seeing this problem on M3540idn, P3045dn (models we sold of this era) - one day a 15 page PDF prints in like 30 seconds, and the same document might take 3 minutes or more to print the following day. The printer prints a page, pauses to process the next page, prints that one, pauses again, etc. when it slows down like this, vs. the 15 pages printing one after another, quite quickly. Doesn't matter who is sending the document (in other words, it's NOT a driver/computer issue). If you unplug the printer for a few seconds (fastest way to reboot), then power up again, it resumes normal operation and that 15 pager is out in 30 seconds.

Re: M3540idn very slow printing PDFs
There are many factors that can contribute to slow printing. One of those is high network traffic. That would affect all PC's. You can run a continuous ping to see how long it's taking to reach the MFP.Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime. -
Re: M3540idn very slow printing PDFs
More information is really needed.
1. What program is being used to print the docs?
2. What size are these docs?
3. Are these complex images?
4. Operating system?Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

Re: M3540idn very slow printing PDFs
Kyocera has some issues.... aside and apart from the fact their drum units and fusers for many of these MFPs don't last half what they are rated for. Contrast these with a Konica Minolta printer I just picked up for $10 - 2 misfeeds in 214K, original fuser hanging in there, original paper feed rollers still grabbing the paper like someone's life depended on it, and printing complex docs with blazing speed.Comment

Re: M3540idn very slow printing PDFs
Thanks, I am assuming it is already using Port 9100, raw, but switching to PCL5 is well worth trying. I will update with the results. And you wonder why people gravitate back to HP. So many IT people that my customers employ are really, really stuck on continuing to only recommend HP - cost of the toner not important to those who aren't paying for it.Comment

default for Kyocera is PCL XL it sucks change to PCL5e or c for color 99.99 percent no problems
Windows will always load the wrong print driver and setup a WSD port
you either get slow printing or no printing
easy to tell if you right click on printer and it has scan option its the wrong driver
also name of driver should be the model and KX
HP printers work great always recommend for envelopes and labels
unless YOU installed it never assume it was done right check everything
uncheck snmp in port settingLast edited by bsm2; 08-15-2023, 10:26 AM.Comment
