If they got rid of hypas questions I'd be good.
Did anyone take the Kyocera service award competition

Curious what kind of questions they have for this. I've been servicing copiers for 35 years, 18 with kyocera, but I'm mostly self trained since branching off on my own. Just a former service manager that went off on his own a long time ago to make more money (and I did), but being that I'm not an authorized kyocera dealer I don't get the schools and awards. Turns out my customers don't give a crap about all that lol, they simply want good quick service at a better price than the big dogs. Fortunately I'm good friends with the kyocera dealer in town, we help each other out and don't step on each others toes with accounts, so I can get any part I need plus the firmware updates and whatnot from them if I can't get them elsewhere. One good thing about being on your own is not having to sell a certain amount of machines, I can do what I please and I get much better deals on slightly used off lease machines that I make a better profit on than new anyway. Still, I do remember going to a lot of schools back in the 90's and kicking ass and getting all those certificates, makes me wonder how I'd do now. Is it technical, mechanical, electrical, IT, a combo of all? I wonder how I'd compare with the youngsters of today.👍 1Comment

I haven't been to a Kyocera school yet but for Konica Minolta they've changed their classroom structure. No more practical exams is the biggest change. As far as the Kyocera test, yeah, I took it and failed miserably lol. Don't remember my score though.Comment

Basic Kyocera questions that you either know or could look quickly at the book. Some copy/color theory but very lightly. Basic networking "what is subnet used for".
all in all pretty standard.
Congrats on your success, although, you having a friend makes your situation possible. Not being an authorized dealer or re-seller kind of makes it impossible. Especially after they killed off Copystar.
