I've experienced problems with these cassette drawers wondering if anyone out there has as well. The copier says to check drawer. The lift motor will not lift the paper up after the drawer is closed; lift motor does work. I'm thinking the problem is in the board in the cassette drawer. Is there any way to bypass this???

Usually is a piece of paper stuck in the connectors, on the back of the drawer and the female connector in the drawer cavity. Sometimes you have to replace the connectors. If I remember right there is also a reset for a disabled drawer in the sim mode, sim 96 if I remember correctly.

Paper in the connectors is what starts most of the problems. Have already cleaned connectors in copier and cassette drawer. Sim 96 is only for those components that are disabled, the cassette drawer is not disabled.
Any other thoughts especially in the area of some how by-passing or knowing which pins to short so as to allow copier to recognize that cassette drawer is installed so as the lift the paper tray???

i dont know the machine, but sounds familiar to KMs. can you swap cassettes and see if it lifts in another spot? maybe the lift motor is done for. just a thought.

I just had one last week do the same thing. I forgot to do something that I have always done in the past. On the connector on the tray, take a sharp pointed item (paper clip sharpened) and bend the small little pins toward the middle, it does'nt take much. One of these pins is not making contact.
It worked on mine, hope this workes for you.

I'll relook at the connectors I've ajusted the pins before when I could tell that they appeared to be out of position. Both slots are doing the same thing and it makes no difference which drawer is in either slot have swapped them both several times. I do know that the lift motors work. I'm certain the problem is in the small circuit board in the drawer. I'm hoping there is a way to by-pass(short out certain pins) to make copier know a cassette drawer is installed.

I have also had a problem where the small white guide roller that guides the drawer has come off and it lets the drawer sag just a bit and causes a connection problem. Try lifting up on the front of the drawer and see if the message disappears?

I admit I've never seen that before however I have found that by adjusting the tray it will help but not with this copier.
