scan to smb with a km2560

trying to set up scan to smb with a km2560/i got the xp pro pc's to scan with no issue at all. The vista pc's which are running business i keep on getting a connect error. The unit gives me a 2101 send error code. I connected directly with a crossover cable and the scanning worked. Why would the xp's work on the network and vista's won't. Any advice?

Go to Control Panel\Network and Sharing Center and make sure "Network discovery" and "File sharing" are both turned ON.

The only other thing I can think of is right now is checking the permissions under both the "sharing" and "security" tabs to make sure the user you specified is allowed write permission. I would just give full control for testing purposes and see if it solves your issue.

so why would it work with a crossover? no issues at all. scanned three times no issue.

A crossover to one of the same Vista machines that wouldn't work before or a crossover to your laptop?

Bummer. If you were just having the issue with the one Vista PC I would say you might have a duplicate IP address on the network or a bad network cable or something to that effect. But since you say it's happening with all the Vista PCs, it would appear to me to be a setting like the one I described earlier that doesn't exist in XP. Good luck...

SMB on a Windows Vista Machine

Go to Windows Security on Windows vista and under exceptions allow for the port being used for SMB scanning to go through.

Check and make sure the Vista machines and the copier are on the same workgroup. I have had this issue on some Toshiba's.
