    Verdict on Taskalpha

    Hi Guys

Have just been sent a Taskalpha 250ci to trial by KM, we are Ricoh only dealers at the minute. I would appreciate any comments by anybody on the Taskalphas. Us chaps on the front line always have the real lo down.

I would say it's a pretty good machine. Did the technical training a few months ago and until now it looks like it's a machine without serious issues.
When you follow the service manual it's quiet easy to install. Preventive Maintenance is every 300k (and 300k colorprints).
I'm also a Ricoh-tech and I was very sceptical about this series, because the previous color machines by Kyocera couldn't match the Ricoh's, but I was surprised to see the quality of this machines.

They've had a few issues, but for the most part everything has been addressed. Like any new release, it take a little while to find the bugs. The image quality beats any preceeding Kyo product. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks for the reply, its interesting that you are a Ricoh tech, how do you compare the KM machine to say the Ricoh MPC2500/2800, or the newer MPC2050/2550

          Thanks

I also like the Task Alfas, the only problem that I see is that the same gears for the 3225 will be going out on these.

I find the 250/300ci comparable with MPC2500/MPC2800. And you can compare the 400ci/500ci with the MPC4000/MPC5000. Don't compare the 250ci/300ci with the MPC2050/2550 for these Ricoh machines have a lower capacity.

At the technical training we stripped the whole machine, so i've seen almost every part of it. I can't come up with any negative comments.

Lots of power in a small footprint, great quality and connectivity not to mention it just looks sexy. All four of my service calls have been put up by me for firmware updates. Time will tell but if it's like the falcon 3s, We will have to do sales calls to fill our time.

                    Task Alpha Color

We have over a dozen of these in the field, no problems whit those units .
Way better than the previous generation.

as a tech: i prefer Kyo. those damn ricohs run through drum units like a 2 y.o. with stomach flu run through diapers. (new charge roller doesn't help much.) diff. maint. cycle on diff. parts also suck. (Kyo is 300k, and thats it). ricohs still easier to set up in a network, but thats usually a one time only.

as a user i'd go for ricoh: easier and more intuitive display, ditto print-driver, ability to swallow thicker paper, more options on finishers, etc. Kyos only do 600dpi vs 1200 on ricoh, but who really cares?

                        taskalphas

I really like the takalpha, we only have three in the field as yet, 2 400ci and a 250, the only drama so far is a fuser replacement on the 400 after only 159,000 copies when they are supposed to get 400,000, kyocera has approved a warranty replacement which is good as we are only a dealer, the codes i got were a 6200 that cleared after a fuser reset then got a 6030 code that would not clear, the code relates to the thermostat
Other than that the machines are great, hope this was just a dodgey part and not a sign of things to come

All I can say is I love them at the moment, when you upgrade to the latest firmware the quality is superb compared to earlier models and I would go sofar as to say I think they beat Konica Minolta on color quality

I have several in the field and they so far are light years above the previous versions. I've had a couple of weird problems but were fixed by following sim procedures. I don't recall ever having to open my tool kit on one yet.
